Every figure EDS publishes traces to its source, retrieval date and licence. Where official data is missing or late, the portal labels the series with a caveat. We publish what we know and how we know it.
Data flows through four stages, and every archived artifact carries a provenance record. No black-box magic.
Tier-1 official sources first — statistics offices, regulators, central banks. News and secondary sources are tagged as such.
Automated schema, completeness, duplicate and freshness checks on every source. Current source health is public.
Series become scores, rankings and country profiles. Written briefings are AI-drafted from cited sources and labelled as such.
Delivered through Aperture: rankings, country profiles, comparisons and CSV/PDF export, each with source attribution.
Tier-1 official sources first. Sources are checked on a schedule; most publish annually. Current source health is public.

MERI scores 158 countries on readiness for foreign market entry. The full MERI methodology is public at marketaperture.io/methodology, and it is the single methodology behind every score.
MERI is a screening tool. It is not yet validated against outcomes, and it is not investment advice.
From Aperture’s methodology: “MERI has not yet been tested against realised market-entry outcomes such as later foreign direct investment.”
“Aperture scores are screening signals for research and teaching, not investment advice.”
Coverage is uneven across the world by design, and we say so plainly where it is thin. We publish what we know and how we know it.
Where official data is missing or late, the portal labels the series with a caveat.
Where a missing component is estimated, the value is flagged as imputed and counted on the country profile.
When official sources disagree, we say so. We do not silently pick a winner.
The full MERI methodology is public at marketaperture.io/methodology. No sign-in and no agreement needed.
